This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Sr. IT Business Analyst will build strong relationships with business users to understand their needs and identify solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data-driven processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of assigned business areas, partnering with them to optimize applications, troubleshoot issues, and gather requirements for complex enhancements.
  • Analyze and redesign workflows within enterprise systems by developing functional specifications, configuring solutions, conducting system testing, and implementing enhancements to improve data integrity, process efficiency, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with university departments to develop detailed documentation such as business requirements, flows and user guides.
  • Lead meetings and workshops with stakeholders to drive collaboration, guide discussions, build consensus, and ensure alignment between business needs and technology solutions.
  • Serve as a collaborative liaison between functional users and IT teams, working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements for IT and vendor partners.
  • Conduct data analysis to evaluate whether workflows and system processes meet business needs, ensuring that proposed process improvements adhere to data quality standards and result in accurate, reliable outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and IT teams through proactive communication to ensure business needs are understood and solutions stay aligned.
  • Research systems, best practices, and peer institutions to suggest improvements and benchmark university processes against industry standards.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with IT teams and leadership in the planning and execution of tasks in the use of technology to meet both department and University goals.
  • Ensure process enhancements align with cybersecurity best practices, seeking support from the IT Security team when needed.
  • Assists with the support of Enterprise Applications used by University departments
  • Support data quality and data governance initiatives by helping to define data standards, identify inconsistencies, and promote best practices for data management across departments.
  • Perform such other related duties that may be assigned.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive business analysis experience, including exposure to IT projects
  • Skilled in requirements documentation, process mapping, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to measure data quality within enterprise systems
  • Comfortable operating within ERP, CRM, or other enterprise systems frameworks.
  • Capable of analyzing existing processes to identify gaps and efficiencies.
  • Able to translate business needs into clear, feasible specifications.
  • Strong communication for collaborating across departments and levels.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills at technical and non-technical levels.
  • Ability to provide exemplary service to our end-users and proactively seek opportunities for service improvement
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude towards providing customer service and building relationships with users
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with the ability to follow each to resolution
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member or independently as appropriate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience working with enterprise-level applications in a higher education environment.
  • Exposure to data governance, QA/testing, or process improvement methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.
