Main Purpose:

Sr. Lead Engineer – Electrical (Projects) shall be responsible for all Electrical System activities on the Project. He shall be responsible for project management, budget control, engineering, interface management, support to construction, and facilitating commissioning of all power generation and other electrical systems, troubleshooting, and steady-state support. He shall also be responsible for obtaining statutory approvals from DGMS and the Electrical Inspector.


Job Accountabilities:

• Conceptual, basic, FEED, and detailed engineering of electrical systems.

• Power generation planning, including load estimation and selection of power source (grid, CPP, etc.).

• Budget preparation and control.

• Ensure compliance with project objectives.

• Manage the complete procurement cycle, including vendor qualification, MR, TBE, TR, vendor document review, manufacturing, FAT, and SAT.

• Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics teams for on-time delivery of project materials to site.

• Coordination with engineering consultants and vendors for finalization of engineering deliverables.

• Electrical power system studies.

• Construction power supply planning and implementation.

• Visits to engineering consultants’ offices for engineering supervision; visits to vendor premises for manufacturing follow-up and FAT; visits to site for construction follow-up, testing, commissioning, and handover of systems to O&M.

• Interface management with subsurface teams for surface facility design and ROU teams for power distribution network design.

• Engineering interface management and inter-disciplinary coordination for various packages and equipment.

• Support O&M during testing and commissioning of systems, ensure troubleshooting, and provide steady-state operational support.

• Prepare project close-out and technical capitalization reports.


Skills Required:

• Well conversant with applicable National (IS) and International standards such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API, OISD, etc., for the selection, specification, design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.

• Conversant with electrical power system studies (short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, harmonics, motor starting, etc.) using software such as ETAP, etc.

• Conversant with electrical equipment sizing, selection, power generation configuration, load shedding and islanding systems, grid connectivity, and CPP operation in various operating modes (island, grid-parallel).

• Conversant with power electronics equipment such as UPS, VFDs, soft starters, thyristor control systems, etc.

• Conversant with hazardous area classification and equipment selection.

• Conversant with supply codes, grid connectivity requirements, metering codes, power tariffs, etc.

• Conversant with review of engineering documents such as SLDs, P&IDs, plant and equipment layouts, cable schedules, data sheets, logic and control diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.

• Cross-disciplinary functional knowledge of Process, Piping, Instrumentation, and Mechanical disciplines.

• Conversant with SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and FGS.

• Familiar with the following:

o Applicable statutory codes and requirements in the Oil and Gas/Petrochemical industry

o Electricity Act, CEA guidelines, OISD, DGMS requirements, etc.

o HSE rules and guidelines


Qualification:

• Graduate Engineer (BE/B.Tech) from a recognized university in Electrical Engineering.


Experience:

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Oil and Gas/Petrochemical industries.

• Should have worked on Concept, FEED, and detailed engineering of at least one Oil and Gas/Petrochemical project.
