Main Purpose:
The Senior Lead Production Engineer is responsible for driving production optimization across conventional oil & gas fields and CBM assets. The role demands leveraging advanced analytical tools, simulation models, and flow assurance practices to maximize hydrocarbon recovery, ensure operational efficiency, and enable strategic decision-making. The incumbent will collaborate closely with operations and sub-surface teams to enhance field performance, mitigate risks, and sustain long-term production—while maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
Job Accountabilities:
1. Production Performance Analysis & Optimization
-
Monitor and analyze field production performance against potential, identifying deferrals and recommending remedial measures.
-
Build well and network models using industry-standard simulation software (OLGA, PIPESIM, PROSPER, GAP, etc.) to evaluate production potential and bottlenecks.
-
Identify opportunities to enhance well inflow, outflow, and network production efficiency.
-
Evaluate and optimize production from artificial lift systems (PCP, SRP, Gas Lift), ensuring alignment with field constraints.
-
Support development of mid- to long-term production strategies in line with business goals.
2. Field Operations Support
-
Provide hands-on technical expertise in well interventions, completions, artificial lifts (PCP & SRP), and basic processing facilities.
-
Advise operations teams on production optimization opportunities and troubleshoot operational challenges.
-
Prevent and mitigate risks related to hydrate formation, sand production, wax deposition, and scale management to minimize downtime.
-
Support well intervention strategies and execution plans for artificial lift wells to sustain/enhance production.
-
Drive the deployment of innovative technologies and best practices to maximize efficiency.
3. Flow Assurance & Nodal Analysis
-
Apply nodal analysis and integrated asset modeling (wells and flowline network) for production enhancement.
-
Ensure robust flow assurance practices, including hydrate control, sand management, and scale inhibition.
-
Collaborate with surface and subsurface teams to address production bottlenecks through integrated solutions.
4. Technical Assurance & Compliance
-
Provide independent technical assurance and validation of production management proposals.
-
Conduct risk assessments and ensure alignment with company standards and international industry practices.
-
Uphold strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all production activities.
5. Collaboration & Leadership
-
Partner with multi-functional and site-based teams to implement production optimization initiatives.
-
Mentor and lead a team of production engineers, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
-
Act as a key technical interface with stakeholders to drive production efficiency and strategic alignment.
Functional Competencies:
-
Strong operational background in well completions, interventions, artificial lift systems (PCP, SRP, Gas Lift), and surface processing facilities.
-
Proficiency in well inflow/outflow analysis, PVT modeling, and production network simulation.
-
Skilled in nodal analysis using OLGA, PIPESIM, PROSPER, GAP, and related tools.
-
Expertise in flow assurance: hydrate, sand, wax, and scale management.
-
In-depth knowledge of production optimization methodologies and artificial lift performance.
-
Comprehensive understanding of HSE regulations and industry best practices.
Education:
-
B.E / B.Tech in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
-
Minimum 15 years of experience in the upstream oil & gas sector, with proven expertise in production engineering and field optimization.
