POSITION PURPOSE:
Supports Operations, HR, Finance, and Legal through timely identification of potential cash or products losses at the restaurants and provides recommendations to restaurant operations through training, coaching and project involvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Identify and investigate potential theft/fraud in collaboration with Operations and HR , including, but not limited to, conducting video surveillance reviews and in-person or virtual interviews to ascertain facts.
- Support training of Operations and other business partners regarding cash handling policies and fraud prevention.
- When necessary, partner with law enforcement agencies to refer cases for prosecution.
- Make recommendations to Operations and HR based on findings from investigations.
- Identify issue trends and recommend process improvements based on investigation outcomes.
- Perform data analytics of restaurant cash losses, use of various discounts, voids, refunds, and product losses to help identify trends and/or areas of potential theft/abuse; develop and maintain reporting on analytics.
- Prepare investigative summary reports of key findings/results at both a company-wide and on an individual restaurant level.
- Prepare and provide detailed reporting, including POS data and video footage to Operations and HR partners as needed.
- Partner with vendors regarding data and process improvements.
- Support Operations and IT to help identify ways to improve overall point of sale, cash handling policies and procedures effectiveness, and monitoring efforts.
- Partner with other departments to address areas of non-compliance with corporate cash and product handling policies or where opportunities for improvement exist.
- Assist with supporting safety and security in restaurants.
- Other activities, duties or responsibilities that are assigned by your supervisor or as may arise from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required.
Education/Work Experience:
High school diploma or GED required, BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, business administration preferred. Minimum 5 years of loss prevention experience required; multi-unit or multi-state restaurant or retail audit experience a plus; understanding of restaurant operations highly desirable.
License/Certifications:
Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates Interview and Interrogation certification preferred; other relevant certifications a plus, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Experience with POS exception-based reporting and analytics software to identify patterns of loss and potential asset exposure.
- Must have excellent interviewing skills, with a strong background in interviewing and interrogations.
- Proficiency in case management software, compliance audit platforms, and video surveillance security systems.
- Critical thinking and strong data analytics skills.
- Experience in investigative report writing.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, customized database applications, and internet research tools.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.
- Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure.
- Exercise discretion and professionalism in working with and maintaining highly confidential and sensitive information.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
