Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Energy Service Tooling

• Own mechanical design, testing, and release of service and installation tooling used in residential and industrial energy applications

• Create test and rollout plans for tooling designs

• Assist in engineering prototype builds and component fabrication

• Work with field service engineering and technical publications teams to create documentation and training to ensure consistent and stable global service operations

• Work with suppliers to perform DFM/DFA studies to reduce cost and improve performance of service tooling for large volume

• Collaborate with industrial and process engineers to support process development and service tooling improvement.

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design

• Ability to work from engineering first principles to solve novel problems and complete projects under tight deadlines

• Strong 3D CAD experience, 3DX or Solidworks preferred

• Hands on experience building mechanical and electromechanical systems

• Experience designing for common manufacturing methods including machining, sheet metal forming, injection molding, welding, and 3d printing

• Excellent fundamental engineering knowledge with examples of applied engineering success through past work, projects, or academic endeavors

• Familiarity with working with various outside suppliers and managing deliverables

• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

• Knowledge of structural and thermal FEA experience is a plus
