HALO is seeking a Senior Merchandiser responsible for owning and leading the merchandising strategy across established client accounts. This role architecturally evolves and expands existing accounts by driving product ideation, sourcing innovation, assortment optimization, and pricing strategy to deliver sustained revenue growth and margin expansion.

Serving as the merchandising authority for assigned accounts, this role translates client objectives and performance insights into differentiated product concepts and commercially disciplined assortments. The Senior Merchandiser identifies new category opportunities, introduces innovation through strategic vendor partnerships, and continuously refines pricing architecture and SKU strategy to strengthen long-term account performance.

Partnering closely with Account Managers, Sales, Creative, Category Merchants, Sourcing, Inventory, and Operations, this role ensures programs are not only maintained but elevated leveraging data, market trends, and sourcing capabilities to unlock incremental growth, protect profitability, and deepen client engagement.

This position balances strategic oversight with hands-on execution, stepping in where needed to drive initiatives forward and ensure growth opportunities are fully realized.

Candidates should be prepared to share visual examples of past assortments, optimization strategies, or account growth initiatives during the interview process.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead annual, seasonal, and quick-strike merchandising strategies for established client accounts, aligning assortments to revenue targets, margin expansion, and long-term brand evolution.
  • Analyze sales performance, SKU productivity, pricing elasticity, and inventory trends to identify opportunities for expansion, rationalization, and margin improvement.
  • Proactively introduce new product categories, innovation, and trend-driven updates by continuously researching brand positioning, competitive landscape, consumer segmentation, and industry dynamics.
  • Refine and evolve pricing architecture, tier strategies, and SKU frameworks to support scalable growth and protect profitability.
  • Partner closely with Account Management and Sales Leadership to support growth strategies, upsell initiatives, and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with Creative to develop strategic product presentations that showcase curated assortments, innovation, and pricing strategy, ensuring cohesive storytelling and strong alignment with the client’s brand and business objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Category Merchants and Sourcing to negotiate cost improvements, explore vendor partnerships, and optimize production strategy.
  • Align with Inventory and Operations teams to support forecasting accuracy, inventory health, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead complex domestic and overseas product development initiatives to drive program differentiation and product elevation.
  • Oversee decoration strategy and product standards to maintain brand consistency and improve quality over time.
  • Ensure SKU setup accuracy, product data integrity, art asset management, proof approvals, and sample validation.
  • Manage and approve final product details, e-commerce copy, imagery, specifications, and size architecture to ensure accuracy and brand alignment.
  • Validate ongoing costing, margin integrity, and pricing alignment to ensure financial performance meets or exceeds targets.
  • Identify process enhancements and operational efficiencies that strengthen account scalability and speed to market.
  • Mentor junior merchandisers, providing guidance on assortment planning, retail math, and financial discipline.
  • Demonstrate leadership through action by stepping into executional details when needed, removing roadblocks, and personally driving deliverables to ensure successful and timely execution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of merchandising, product development, or client-branded program experience.
  • Proven ability to architect and evolve assortment strategies and pricing frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in retail math, pricing strategy, margin architecture, and SKU rationalization.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution across complex, simultaneous projects.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of domestic decoration capabilities and overseas sourcing strategy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator; Jira and Smartsheet experience preferred.
  • Strong executive presence and clear communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong ownership, accountability, and decision-making confidence.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or strategic meetings.
  • Operates with urgency, precision, and commercial discipline.

Compensation: The estimated salary range for this position is between $70,000 to $90,000.00 annually. Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline and reflects a broad spectrum of labor markets across the US. While it is uncommon for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range, compensation decisions are influenced by various factors.
