SR. PRINCIPAL RESERVOIR ENGINEER

Primary Purpose Of The Job

  • Responsible for conducting and coordinating reserves assurance sessions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all reserves and resources documentation meet QatarEnergy’s standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring all necessary staff reserves training sessions are conducted in accordance with the Petroleum Reserve Management System (PRMS) guidelines.
  • Responsible for the coordination of reserves audits (internal and external) as advised by Head, PRM or Resource Committee.
  • Supports the consolidation, aggregation and preparation of the reserves and resources content of the QatarEnergy’s annual reports.
  • Liaise with Economics (CE) during the yearly economics evaluation update and Department Resource Coordinators and provide support and review as required.
  • Supports the integration between business plan, asset plans and reserves reporting standards processes.
  • Supports data management to ensure that all reserves data are stored and accessible according to QatarEnergy’s infosec standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the asset project teams as required during the ARR process.
  • Provide on-the-job mentoring and coaching of less experienced staff and share / leverage knowledge and skills across subsurface community.
  • Comply with HSE standards of the Company.

Required Experience And Skills

  • Minimum 15 years (preferably 20+ years) of work experience as a Reservoir Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • At least five years, or more, in resource estimation, classification and reporting preferably conducting assurance and audits.
  • Strong fundamental technical reservoir engineering skill set
  • Significant experience in Decline Analysis, Reservoir Simulation, Material Balance and other production forecasting and reserves estimation methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir characterization topics including geology, petrophysics, volumetric analysis and models
  • Significant expertise in analyzing well performance included Pressure Transient Analysis
  • Experience in all phases of asset’s life from exploration through to late life
  • Significant expertise in uncertainty analysis and risk assessment/management.
  • Strong understanding of finance, economics and legal issues associated with Reserves and Resources estimation.
  • Strong understanding of Project Stage Gates and approval mechanisms
  • Strong organizational, stakeholder’s engagement and database skills.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Desirable:-
  • Experience and exposure to wide range of the reservoir types, geological environments, geographies and development stages.
  • Experience with a major operating company and/or reputable consultancy. Software Knowledge/Experience
  • Resource database - PHDWin or equivalent (desirable)

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum BSc in Engineering / Petroleum Engineering / Applied Sciences or equivalent.
