We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to define and commercialize product offerings for B2B energy storage solutions (Megapack and Powerpack) across our two core segments: Utilities, Commercial & Industrial, and Microgrids. You will leverage your expertise to develop market and product requirements needed to deliver industry-leading products. You will also be a key technical member of a cross-functional Product Management team that also supports the ongoing development of technical content for sales, finance, and engineering teams for Tesla’s industrial energy products.
As a member of the Product Management team, you will be required to wear many hats and adapt to a fast-paced work environment. This is a multi-faceted role where strong knowledge of commercial, and engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems) topics is a must, and energy and/or product management experience is highly desired. In this role, you will be responsible for Standard Service Offerings for our Industrial Energy Products (Megapack, etc.).
This position requires a combination of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and a strong ability to collaborate across teams. Experience in energy, project finance, battery technology and/or understanding component reliability will set you apart. Strategic thinking, attention to detail, curiosity, and the ability to inspire and communicate effectively are essential to success.
This role is part of the Industrial Product team which oversees the hardware, software, firmware, and services powering Megapack and other industrial energy products.
Leverage market research, competitive diligence and customer feedback to define product vision and strategy for Services
Create business cases and market & product requirements to inform the Services product roadmap and priorities
Define and commercialize service offerings into standardized, sellable products to ensure successful product launches and customer success, working closely with cross-functional teams across the engineering and commercial organizations
Understand capex and opex costs that feed into service offerings, and think critically about how that feeds into the pricing of all service offerings
Develop and drive implementation of technical content (technical documentation, marketing collateral, Independent Engineering reports) to provide internal and external parties with all information pertinent to our products and offerings on product topics related to performance, safety, installation, features, grid code, safety compliance, and much more
Act as primary stakeholder for education of critical product features for internal teams, customers, and supporting parties
Optimize industrial project margins for individual high impact projects through techno-economic modeling and assessment of product capabilities
Support Sales teams around the world as they contract projects that accelerate the world’s adoption of sustainable energy. Always look for opportunities to improve our processes and support our growth
Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Energy related field preferred, or equivalent experience
5+ year(s) of experience in product management or in the energy industry, preferably in the energy storage technology space; experience with project contracting is a plus
Deep passion for and understanding of service and the operational side of BESS and sustainable energy
Experience with Utilities, IPPs, and/or large scale energy developers and their needs for operations and maintenance services
An overall rock-solid blend of engineering (electrical, mechanical) and commercial expertise. Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, across many teams, in a short timeframe, with demonstrated ability to pivot rapidly
Deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid. A bias for action to propose changes as needed based on industry knowledge, voice of customer, techno-economic analysis, and business or mission value
