Job Summary:
The Production Engineer – Metal Fabrication & Planning is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling fabrication activities to ensure timely production, quality compliance, cost efficiency, and safety. The role involves close coordination with design, purchase, quality, and site teams to meet project schedules and production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Planning
- Prepare and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans for metal fabrication activities.
- Plan manpower, machines, and materials to meet production schedules.
- Monitor production progress and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Coordinate with stores and purchase for timely availability of raw materials and consumables.
Metal Fabrication Operations
- Supervise fabrication activities such as cutting, bending, rolling, welding, machining, and assembly.
- Interpret fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and BOMs accurately.
- Ensure proper usage of jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tools.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and technical issues.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure fabrication work complies with approved drawings, WPS, QAP, and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspections and documentation.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and welding quality as per standards.
- Support internal and third-party inspections.
Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with design, project, and dispatch teams for smooth workflow.
- Maintain production reports, material consumption records, and daily progress reports.
- Assist in preparation of fabrication schedules and progress tracking.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and use of PPE on shop floor.
- Promote good housekeeping practices (5S) in the fabrication area.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2–6 years of experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy engineering industry.
- Hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes and shop-floor operations.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication and welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and production planning tools.
- Good communication and team management skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
