The Orange County Office of Innovation & Emerging Technologies (Innovation Office) is seeking well-qualified applicants for the role of Senior Professional On-Call.
General Functions: The Senior Professional On-Call manages Innovation Office grants and projects, conducts research on public-sector innovations, implements communications and outreach activities, and supports other partnerships and activities of the Innovation Office.
This Senior Professional On-Call is a temporary part-time position for up to 1,200 hours per fiscal year. The position is a hybrid position that includes some in-person shifts at the Orange County Administration Building. The position has a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends, based on project and event schedules.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Chief Innovation & Emerging Technology Officer.
Representative Duties/Assignments:
¿ Manage selected Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-related grants, including research, grant writing, evaluation, monitoring, coordination, and full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
¿ Apply technical expertise to research and recommend technologies and strategies for public-sector innovation and project development that improves services to residents and businesses of Orange County.
¿ Develop, organize, and update project/grant documentation in various formats, including monday.com, to meet applicable deadlines and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
¿ Participate in Innovation Office internal/external partner coordination and outreach, as needed.
¿ Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience in STEM, innovation, local government, and/or economic development organizations managing projects and/or grants.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and provide own transportation if necessary.
Must be available to work all shifts, including nights and weekends
Preferences:
¿ Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field.
¿ Proficiency in monday.com or similar product and its applications for project or grant management.
¿ Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
¿ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
