Sr. Engineer/Asst. Manager - Purchase

Job Description:

Qualification: BE Mech/DME

Work Experience (years)- 7 to 10

Age Limit: 32 to 36 Years

Salary In CTC: 8 to 9 LPA

Preferable Industry - Oil & Gas, General Engineering

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Prepare quotes for customer enquiries.

2. Assess current material availability and compare; reasonably predict future

availability based on customer requirements/orders.

3. Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials and

supplies.

4. Draft, explain, and implement instructions and procedures for purchasing and

vendor management.

5. Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems.

6. Exhibit negotiations skill with suppliers.

7. Responsible for supplier identification, evaluation, and performance

monitoring.

8. Inventory planning and control.

9. Coordinate with vendors, management, and customers to resolve quality

issues.

10. Build purchase team and identify department objectives/MOP.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

12. Conduct material planning review meetings and purchase order progress

review meetings.

13. Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and maintain strong supplier

relationships.

14. Collaborate with production, finance, and quality departments to forecast

material requirements and ensure timely availability.

15. Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation, bulk

purchasing, and process improvements.

16. Implement and follow FIFO and Bin card.

Desired Candidate Profile:

1. Awareness of different metal forming processes such as forging, rolling, etc.,

and associated defects in the products produced in these processes.

2. Methods of detecting defects.

3. Knowledge of the chemical and mechanical properties of these products and

associated standard references.

4. Awareness of ISO QMS Processes.

5. Familiarity with interpreting drawings, precision machining operations, and

measurements.

6. Good communication and computer skills, understanding required

documentation, and monitoring implementation.

7. Experience in quotation preparation, costing, cost break-up sheets, and

compiling data for RFQ.

8. Skills in price negotiation, supplier identification/development, and supplier

performance monitoring.

9. Work experience in the oil & gas industry, hydraulic industry, or related fields.

10. Experience with or suppliers to the oil & gas, railways, and infrastructure

industries is preferred.

11. Experience in leading and building a purchase team.
