AI Engineers, Inc. (AIE) is looking for a Sr. Structural Design Engineer to join our team in the Richmond, VA office. This is an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, highly-organized Sr. Structural Design Engineer professional to assist the team with design and QA/QC work for the Richmond, VA regional projects. Candidates should possess a “can-do” attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative consulting firm. Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7+ years in bridge design, with specific experience with Virginia state DOT projects.
  • NBIS bridge inspection and/or load rating experience will also be considered.
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Proficiency with MicroStation. OpenRoads Bridge Modeler/OpenBridge is a plus.
  • PennDOT CBSI is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks related to bridge design projects and other transportation-related structural design and analysis projects.
  • Design steel, concrete, and/or timber bridge elements, walls, and associated structures.
  • Perform structural analyses, develop calculations, and prepare plans in accordance with federal, state, and local agency requirements.
  • Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and special provisions.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of calculations, special provisions, and plans prepared by others.
  • Manage and maintain project and QA/QC documentation
  • May perform site visits and structure inspections from time to time.
  • Assist project managers with assignments including schedule and budget updates and proposal preparation

  • Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Data driven and detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner.
