Job Summary

The Technical Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to construction projects by reviewing drawings, preparing shop drawings, coordinating with consultants and subcontractors, and ensuring that project execution complies with design specifications and standards. The role involves assisting the project team in resolving technical issues and ensuring smooth coordination between design and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Review

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and BOQs to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and BOQ.
  • Prepare technical queries (RFIs) and coordinate clarifications with consultants and clients.

Shop Drawings & Submittals

  • Prepare and review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for technical documentation and material submittals.
  • Ensure all shop drawings comply with project specifications and consultant requirements.

Coordination

  • Coordinate between design teams, project engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during construction.
  • Participate in technical meetings and project coordination meetings.

Material & Method Review

  • Review and approve material submittals before submission to consultants.
  • Ensure proposed materials meet project specifications and standards.
  • Review method statements and technical procedures for project execution.

Documentation

  • Maintain records of technical submissions, approvals, revisions, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with the document control department for proper documentation management.
  • Ensure latest approved drawings are issued to site teams.

Site Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance to site engineers and construction teams.
  • Assist in resolving site-related design issues.
  • Support preparation of as-built drawings and final documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering depending on discipline.

Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience in construction or fit-out projects.
  • Experience in shop drawings, technical submittals, and project coordination.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to review shop drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in UAE construction or fit-out projects.
  • Knowledge of local authority requirements and standards.
  • Familiarity with BIM software or Revit is an advantage.

  • Timely submission of shop drawings and technical submittals.
  • Number of technical issues resolved efficiently.
  • Compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Accuracy of technical documentation and drawings
