Who We Are Looking For:
Are you a graphic designer with exceptional signage and wayfinding / environmental design sensibilities?
The Senior Wayfinding Designer will deliver human-centered solutions that combine principles from architecture, interior design, and environmental graphics to provide a broad range of wayfinding planning, graphic design, and experiential branding for large-scale venues and public event projects.
Our preferred candidate has 12+ years of proven experience in a studio environment for large-scale public assembly and/or hospitality/entertainment venues. (Applicants without demonstrated experience in wayfinding will not be eligible for consideration).
Collaborating closely with clients to discover opportunities to amplify the character of a place, you’ll work with architects, interior designers, and branding professionals to develop cohesive experiential strategies.
What Your Day Could Consist Of:
- Conceptualizing and designing signage systems that celebrate typography, brand, and 3D forms to clearly communicate information and make navigation easy.
- Leading the creation of circulation and user journey maps that inform the spatial and operational design of venues.
- Developing spatial strategies, sign location plans, wayfinding messaging, construction document models, and documentation packages.
- Utilizing established standards and professional expertise to implement design revisions and respond to project-specific needs.
- Overseeing quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes throughout design and construction.
- Ensuring that intuitive navigation elements, sign systems and graphics are tailored to the needs of diverse users navigating dynamic, high-capacity venues.
- Attending site visits as needed to assess and support the quality of implementation.
- Representing Populous and lead meetings with clients and stakeholders to review designs and plans.
Requirements For Success:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, CADTools, Adobe Acrobat), Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability with 2D technical drawing, 3D visualization/modeling and rendering, specification writing, and technical detail drawing.
- Knowledge of ADA compliance and venue safety protocols related to signage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design principles, fabrication techniques, and material applications including understanding of print production processes and substrates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Positive attitude, resourceful nature, and highly capable problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative leadership capacity.
- Proactive, communicative, and takes initiative, while also demonstrating strong collaboration and teamwork abilities to drive projects forward effectively.
Essential Qualifications:
- 12+ years of proven experience in a studio environment for large-scale public assembly and/or hospitality/entertainment venues
- An accredited bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
Additional details:
- Travel will be required (less than 10%).
Compensation:
- The projected salary range for this opportunity is $108,000 - $135,000 annually, and may be more or less depending on skills, experience and education.
