SRE PostgreSQL

Join Barclays as a SRE PostgreSQL role, where you will assume a key technical role. You will assist in shaping the direction of our database administration, ensuring our technological approaches are innovative and aligned with the Bank’s business goals. You will contribute high-impact projects to completion, collaborate with management, and implement SRE practices using software engineering and database administration to address infrastructure and operational challenges at scale. To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

• Years of proven experience as a Senior Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies such as Oracle or MS-SQL.

• Proven track record of implementing and leading SRE practices across large organizations or complex teams.

• Expert-level knowledge of telemetry, monitoring, and platform observability tooling (e.g., ESAAS, Grafana, Prometheus,) with experience in customizing and scaling these solutions.

• Experience in implementing modern DevOps and SRE practices in enterprise environments.

• Proven expertise in SQL query optimization and database performance tuning at scale.

• Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD tools and their implementation.

• Experience in implementing PostgreSQL Container patterns on Kubernetes with the help of a PostgreSQL operator or a Helm charts.

• Recognized as a PostgreSQL subject matter expert, serving as the technical escalation for complex database issues.

• Experience with programming languages like Python.

• Proven experience in executing database migration strategies at enterprise-scale.

• Exceptional collaboration skills with executives and cross-functional teams.

• Extensive experience working with large, distributed, high-performance, high-availability databases with 24/7 uptime

• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

This role is based in our Pune office.

Purpose of the role

To identify potential vulnerabilities within the banks IT systems using penetration testing tools and techniques to ensure security of computer systems, applications, servers, and networks.

Accountabilities

• Development and execution of assessments, audits, and threat models to identify vulnerabilities within the banks systems, applications and servers using penetration tools and techniques, and communicate key findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaboration with stakeholders and IT teams to identify emerging cyber-attack techniques, tools and technologies and to support the development of penetration testing methodologies.
• Development and maintenance of comprehensive documents and reports for senior stakeholders on penetration test findings, and remediation guidance.
• Collaboration with stakeholders to understand their security requirements and controls in business processes, application/services, to enhance overall security posture and assurance.
• Identification of emerging vulnerabilities, exploit codes and cyber-attacks to develop testing methodologies and assurance activities.
