Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader: attends the SI-supported course and holds regularly-scheduled out-of-class peer-facilitated study sessions each week; creates supplementary materials, e.g., mock quizzes, study skill documents, critical thinking exercises, etc., to facilitate SI sessions; promotes the attendance of SI sessions through advertising and regular announcements to students in the SI-supported course; meets regularly with the course instructor to discuss facilitation of SI sessions; collects survey data regarding participation of SI sessions; and maintains knowledge of preferred practices in supplemental instruction by attending mandatory professional development activities offered through the Transitional Education Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A grade of “B” or better in the course to be SI-facilitated.

Desirable Qualifications:

Personal recommendation by instructor of facilitated course; personal recommendation from current or former SI Leader; previous experience with tutoring and/or supplemental instruction;
