(St. Clair) Lead Teacher - Infant Room

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the classroom program and child assessment. Organizes special activities/events for parents and families.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Supports healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Oversees the care-giving staff for a specific group of children and overall care and supervision of children.

Qualifications/Responsibilities

  • Minimum age requirement of 19 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience or the equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Responsible to maintain 24 clock hours of professional development training per year.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION - MUST BE ABLE TO SATISFY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

OPTION 1:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience
  • 3 hours of MiRegistry approved training in each of the following areas:

a. Program Management

b. Observation, documentation, and assessment

c. Teaching and learning

  • 6 hours of MiRegistry approved training in any of the following areas:

a. Interactions and guidance

b. Challenging behaviors

c. Trauma informed practices

  • Works in a center that participated in Great Start to Quality

OPTION 2:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience
  • 6 semester hours, 9 CEUs, or a combination to equal 90 clock hours of coursework in child care administration, early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field. Up to 30 hours of MiRegistry-approved training may be used to meet these requirements.
  • Works in a center that participated in Great Start to Quality

OPTION 3:

  • A valid Child Development Associate credential, Montessori credential, Infant Family Associate credential, or associate degree or higher in any field of study.
  • 3 hours of MiRegistry approved training in each of the following areas:

a. Program Management

b. Observation, documentation, and assessment

c. Teaching and learning

  • 6 hours of MiRegistry approved training in any of the following areas:

a. Interactions and guidance

b. Challenging behaviors

c. Trauma informed practices
