The Amelia Ann Adams Whole Life Center (AAAWLC) is a community-driven organization dedicated to fostering positive change and providing essential support to underserved populations. AAAWLC is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations. This position is responsible for bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, grant tracking, and month-end activities.

The Staff Accountant serves as the primary in-house accounting professional and works closely with a fractional CFO/CPA who provides oversight, review, training, and financial statement preparation. This role is ideal for an accountant who enjoys hands-on work, strong internal controls, and supporting a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree with relevant course work, and two (2) years of public accounting or general accounting experience or three (3) to five (5) years of progressive public accounting or general accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel for financial management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in nonprofit or grant-funded environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and external advisors.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Commitment to social justice and financial equity, with a passion for supporting underserved communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Pay: $26.50 - $33.65 per hour
