Why This Role Exists
Proclaim is a fast-moving health tech company. We are building our finance team and are looking for an exceptional accounting hire to own the day-to-day so leadership can focus on growth.
You’ll run AP, close the books accurately each month, and build out the FP&A muscle the business needs as it grows. This isn’t a tick-the-box job—we want someone who looks at the numbers and asks “why?”
The candidate must be comfortable working in a startup environment, and prior tech/health-tech experience will be a plus.
What You’ll Own
Accounts Payable
- Manage end-to-end AP: vendor invoices, PO matching, coding, and payment runs via AP platform
- Review and code employee expenses; process reimbursements accurately and on time
- Own vendor setup, W-9 collection, and maintain a clean vendor master in NetSuite
- Flag and resolve coding discrepancies proactively with department leads
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries in NetSuite (accruals, prepaids, deferrals, reclasses)
- Own key balance sheet reconciliations: cash, credit cards, AP, accruals, and payroll
- Partner with external accountants to deliver clean support schedules and minimize review cycles
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements along with our external accounting firm (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Assist with sales/use tax filings and multi-state compliance tracking and manage our tax firm
FP&A Support
- Run monthly budget-vs.-actual reporting by department; surface and explain variances
- Maintain and improve expense coding consistency to ensure reporting integrity
- Support ad hoc financial analysis for leadership (vendor cost reviews, headcount modeling)
- Help build a lightweight forecasting cadence as the company scales
Process & Systems
- Maintain and improve SOPs for AP, expenses, payroll, and close—document what exists, fix what’s broken
- Identify and implement automations in financial tech stack (e.g. NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, and Tipalti) to reduce manual work
- Bring solutions, not just problems—proactively flag gaps and recommend improvements
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience in a startup or fast-paced environment
- Hands-on NetSuite experience: posting JEs, running reports, reconciling accounts
- Comfortable owning AP and month-end close with minimal supervision
- Strong Excel skills: formulas, pivot tables, scenario analyses reconciliation builds
- Detail-oriented with a low tolerance for messy books—you notice things others miss
- Clear communicator who can translate accounting issues into plain language for non-finance stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience with Netsuite, Ramp, Brex and/or Tipalti (or similar AP systems)
- Exposure to FP&A: budget prep, variance analysis, or basic financial modeling
- Experience supporting or preparing financial statements, not just executing close tasks
- CPA candidate or CPA (a plus, not required)
- Health tech, SaaS, or hardware/recurring revenue company background
Who Thrives Here
This role is a strong fit if you…
- Want to be the go-to finance person at a growing company, not one of many in a large department
- Get energized by cleaning up a messy process or building something from scratch
- Are curious about the business—why costs move, what drives revenue, how operations connect to the P&L
- Can shift between tactical (AP run today) and analytical (why did OpEx spike?)
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and can prioritize without waiting to be told exactly what to do
