Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the Controller, CFO and the financial operations of Breakside Brewery. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for numbers, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Please note, this position requires on-site work at our Milwaukie, Oregon brewery location five days a week. Remote work options are not available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Monthly Closing: Support the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process
• Reconciliation: Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial data across multiple locations.
• Payroll Entry: Enter all weekly payroll information for review by the Controller.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
• Schedules: Maintain various schedules for accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Core Transactional Processes: Take control of key processes such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and financial reports for management.
• Budget Assistance: Support budget preparation and variance analysis to identify financial trends and areas for improvement.
• Inventory Management: Work closely with management on inventory tracking and valuation for both brewery and restaurant locations.
• Discrepancies: Investigate and resolve any inconsistencies.
• Tax Compliance: Assist with sales tax reporting and other regulatory compliance matters.
• Audit Support: Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant accounting experience; experience in the restaurant or beverage industry is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel) and data entry.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
