Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise in various accounting software and financial concepts will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. Duties
- Prepare and record journal entries, including debits and credits, to ensure accurate general ledger maintenance
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and account analysis, to verify data integrity
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and audit support
- Assist with payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro, ensuring timely processing and compliance
- Conduct data entry with high accuracy, maintaining detailed records for non-profit or governmental accounting projects
- Collaborate on budgeting efforts and provide insights into financial concepts relevant to the organization’s operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or pursuing certification is a plus
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a focus on technical accounting practices
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Workday, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or Ceridian; experience with financial software like UltiPro or Kronos is advantageous
- Familiarity with payroll management systems including ADP and Paychex
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform account analysis and account reconciliation efficiently
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation
- High level of accuracy in data entry (10 key typing skills) combined with solid math skills for financial calculations
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly
