Staff Accountant

ThorWorks Industries, Inc. is a global leader in the protective coatings industry headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio. We are seeking applicants for a Staff Accountant position to join our corporate accounting team that is responsible for several affiliated manufacturing companies. The ideal candidate will be hard working, of good character, self-starting, and a quick learner.

Job Duties include:

General Ledger:

• Month-end close
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliation and variance analysis
• Bank reconciliations
• Fixed asset register management
• Sales/use tax filing
• CAT filing
• IFTA filing
• Assist with annual physical inventory
• Assist with annual audit

Administrative and Other:

• Accounts payable
• Review customer billing
• Participate in A/R, A/P, and other internal audits
• Prepare and submit 1099 and 1096 forms
• Create ad hoc reports as requested by other departments and management
• Help document and improve processes and procedures
• Occasional day travel to company plants
• Must have vehicle on site for travel to other buildings on local campus
• Additional duties as necessary

Requirements Include:

• Must live within reasonable commuting distance as remote work and/or relocation are not available
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus 2-3 years of experience
• Strong work ethic and ability to effectively work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere as well as independently with a positive attitude
• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines
• Must be organized and diligent with an attention to detail
• Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word with the ability to quickly learn new programs
• Professional verbal and written communication skills

• Experience in manufacturing environment
• Intercompany activity experience
• Experience with the following software:
• Sage
• Sage Fixed Assets
• Crystal Reports
• QuickBooks
