Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, and supporting various accounting functions across multiple platforms. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits within the general ledger.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify data integrity across financial statements.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
- Support payroll management tasks utilizing systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or Paychex, including data entry and payroll processing.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Perform detailed account reconciliation activities to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Contribute to internal audits by preparing documentation related to SOX controls and financial reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, tax preparation, and financial analysis projects.
- Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions, supporting transparency and audit readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and SOX compliance procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; experience with Workday or UltiPro is a plus.
- Familiarity with payroll systems including ADP, Paychex or Kronos; payroll management experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10-key typing is essential.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data accurately and efficiently; strong math skills are required.
- Experience working with non-profit organizations or in public accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
