Overview
The entry level Staff Accountant works within the Finance office to assist with various day-to- day operations of the Finance Department. Works with guidance from the Director of Finance on various tasks related to supporting Monthly Close, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and reconciliations for both the Buffalo Philharmonic (BPO), Kleinhans Music Hall (KMH) and 786 Delaware, LLC.
Specific Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Close:
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules
- Assist with close process in supporting the Director of Finance where necessary
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Maintain organized financial records
Accounts Payable:
- Manage vendor records: W-9’s, ACH information
- Annually prepare 1099’s
- Code & process expense reports and vendor invoices for Finance department.
- Process payments via Check/ACH and prepare for mailing/distribution.
- Process HSA and 403(b) distributions
Account Receivable:
- Code and process receivables
- Electronically deposit checks and handle in-person banking as needed.
- Obtain Tax exempt documentation where needed
Administrative Support:
- Organize financial documents
- Support Audits
- Ad-hoc tasks
- Maintain instrument insurance listings, track claims and payouts
- Coordinate building maintenance contracts and on-site appointments
- Filing
- Coverage of phone/voicemail system & processing of incoming/outgoing mail in absence of office clerk.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with 4 plus years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping is required. Degrees in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
- Proficiency with AccountingWare Activity HD or similar program is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
