Summary/Objective:
Generally: The Staff Attorney will provide expert legal counsel and representation on IMCU’s behalf, focusing on a variety of topics within the area of creditor’s rights as well as all other laws and regulations relating to financial institutions.
Focus: At the onset, the Staff Attorney will be expected to handle IMCU’s civil collection matters and help with other tasks as requested.

Prepare and review court pleadings

Analyze service of process and make decisions regarding jurisdictional venue

Appear in court on IMCU’s behalf

Negotiate settlements

Negotiate payment arrangements

Foster a good relationship with the Collections Department and other legal staff

Analyze promissory notes and security agreements
Competencies

Strong writing and communication skills

Strong math skills relating to loan and judgment balances

Some litigation experience preferred, but not required

Some creditor’s rights experience preferred, but not required

Some experience representing financial institutions preferred, but not required

Work environment
In-person professional workplace with the option to work from home 1 day a week.
Physical demands
The Staff Attorney will be expected to come, in-person, to an office and will spend much of his or her time at a desk. The Staff Attorney will also need to be able to travel to and from court hearings.
Travel required
The Staff Attorney will be required to come into the office and also travel to court for hearings.
Required education and experience
- Required: Juris Doctorate from an A.B.A. approved law school
- Required: Active and good standing license required to practice law in the state of Indiana
