Staff Attorney

Overview:

Tremendously busy in-house legal department seeking a uniquely qualified attorney to assist our general counsel with a host of litigation and transactional matters for a conglomerate of companies servicing the logistics industry.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct litigation (draft pleadings, conduct discovery, appear in court, etc.);
• Manage transactional matters (draft and negotiate contracts, etc.);
• Provide comprehensive support and legal advice to our clients and their business leaders;
• Conduct legal research and keep abreast of current laws/regulations effecting business lines to ensure compliance; and
• Provide general assistance in a variety of tasks to the general counsel all in support of the legal department.

Focused Areas of Practice (in order of priority):

• Real Estate (real estate development, tax appeals, and commercial purchases and sales)
• Civil litigation (breach of contract)
• Transactional (contract review, drafting, and negotiation)

Required Skillset:

• Extremely organized, efficient, astute with a can-do attitude, and a great sense of humor.
• Clear and concise writer with critical thinking capabilities and a strong work-ethic.
• Quick learner who is unafraid to try something new.
• Patient and enjoys helping others.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Works collaboratively with a variety of personalities/nationalities/ethnic groups.

Basic Job Requirements:

• Licensed attorney in the State of Illinois.
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Westlaw, and all traditional office software and equipment.

Location: In office only

Annual Pay Range: $85K - $115K (commensurate with experience)
