The Staff Data Center Field Engineer will be part of a growing, dynamic, highly-focused team responsible for developing new or existing opportunities in the global IT market. The Field Engineer will be required to work with customers from ground to executive-level, manage projects hand in hand with internal and external teams, and help grow the business whenever possible. Customer and solution focus, are two key factors for this position, as well as business continuity and support. Will drive the development of new services in the Data Center Business to support out Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Center Design: Has a good understanding of data center design, construction, factory acceptance, site acceptance and commissioning
- Data Center Operations: Highly technical problem solver who understands data center mechanical, electrical and plumbing design
- Sales Support: Works closely with the sales and extended teams to map end-user customer business, partner requirements and provide most optimized data center solutions
- Technical Sales: Provides technical leadership in Pre-Sales and oversee implementation of such solutions. Develop and review systems solutions, technical bid responses and presentations
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work cross-department to ensure customer satisfaction and timely resolution of issues
- Project Management: Collaborate with Project Managers and design engineers to produce comprehensive design proposals and detailed delivery plans, specifically tailored to the onsite server rack installations
- Problem Solving: Manage and leads teams during investigation and resolution of problems in the field
- Customer Collaboration: Actively participate in or host customer meetings to discuss project status, timelines, and any server rack deployment-specific requirements, ensuring alignment with the customer's data center infrastructure
- Site Survey: Conducting site surveys and assessments to understand the specific requirements and constraints of the customer's data center facility, ensuring that the proposed rack systems are optimized for the environment. Visit on-site facilities and operations to enable solution integration and issue resolution
- Proof-of-concept: Ability to build and demonstrate proof-of-concept that meets or exceeds customer business needs
- Corporate Champion: Ability to present the corporate brand, product messaging and solutions to customers
- Travel: Travel required (up to 50%)
- Bachelors' or Masters' degree in engineering discipline; mechanical engineering, construction experience, electrical engineering preferred
- Excellent communication skills and business sense required
- Minimum 12 years related experience with Data Center or IT Infrastructure experience desired
- Networking experience a plus
- Strong background and experience data center architecture
$125,000 - $130,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
