The Staff Nurse (Maternity) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal patients. She ensures safe delivery practices, newborn care, and maintains patient safety and comfort in compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities:1. Patient Care:

  • Provide nursing care to pregnant women during antenatal, labor, and postnatal periods.
  • Monitor maternal vital signs and fetal heart rate regularly.
  • Assist obstetricians during normal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency obstetric procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medications and injections.
  • Manage pain relief measures and emotional support for mothers during labor.
  • Ensure aseptic techniques and infection control protocols at all times.

2. Newborn Care:

  • Receive and assess newborns immediately after birth.
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation when necessary.
  • Provide basic newborn care — cord care, feeding support, temperature maintenance, and immunization guidance.
  • Educate mothers on breastfeeding, hygiene, and newborn care.

3. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of patient assessments, medications, and nursing observations.
  • Update delivery registers, admission/discharge records, and newborn logs.
  • Report any abnormal findings or emergencies to the duty doctor/supervisor promptly.

4. Equipment & Ward Management:

  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the labor room, postnatal ward, and delivery equipment.
  • Check and maintain medical supplies, linen, and instruments.
  • Assist in sterilization and maintenance of obstetric equipment.

5. Communication & Education:

  • Provide counselling and health education to mothers and families regarding nutrition, hygiene, and family planning.
  • Coordinate with doctors, anaesthetists, and paediatricians for comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous nursing education programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (recognized by INC or State Nursing Council).
  • Registration: Must be a registered nurse and midwife.
  • Experience:
  • Freshers may be considered for junior positions.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in maternity, obstetrics, or labor ward preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
