Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care

• Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients according to hospital policies and protocols.
• Monitor, record, and report patients’ conditions and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and reports.
• Assist patients with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
• Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

2. Operation Theatre (OT) Duties

• Prepare OT, instruments, and equipment before surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons during operations by handling instruments and maintaining aseptic technique.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs during surgery under supervision of the anesthetist.
• Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments and materials.
• Handle specimens carefully and send them for lab analysis as per protocol.
• Maintain OT cleanliness, safety, and infection control standards.

3. Ward Duties

• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients as per hospital procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to the doctor or nursing in-charge.
• Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and discipline in the ward.
• Educate patients and families on health care practices, medications, and follow-up care.
• Manage ward inventory (linen, equipment, medicines, and supplies).

4. Emergency Department Duties

• Provide immediate nursing care to emergency and critical patients.
• Assist in triage and prioritization of patients based on the severity of condition.
• Support doctors in emergency procedures (e.g., CPR, wound dressing, IV access).
• Administer emergency drugs and monitor patient response.
• Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, and other departments for prompt investigations.
• Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and supplies.

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Follow infection prevention and control protocols strictly.
• Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines.
• Ensure patient and staff safety in all nursing activities.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing activities.
• Report incidents, equipment malfunction, or safety hazards to the nursing in-charge.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and training programs.

7. Teamwork & Professional Conduct

• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff for smooth patient care.
• Maintain professional behavior, punctuality, and discipline.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous education.
