JOB DESCRIPTION (JD) – NURSING STAFF (IVF CENTRE)
Department: Nursing / IVF
Designation: Staff Nurse / IVF Nurse
Reports To: Nursing In-charge / IVF Coordinator / Clinical Director
1. JOB SUMMARY
The IVF Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and efficient nursing care to infertility/IVF patients. This includes assisting in procedures, coordinating patient treatment cycles, maintaining documentation, preparing equipment, ensuring aseptic techniques, and supporting doctors/embryologists for smooth IVF operations.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist patients during consultations, scans, IUI, IVF, egg pickup, embryo transfer, etc.
- Maintain privacy, empathy, and patient comfort.
- Educate patients about procedures, instructions, medications, and follow-ups.
B. IVF Cycle Coordination
- Coordinate with IVF coordinator for patient treatment cycles.
- Ensure patients follow medication schedules and procedure timings.
- Maintain IVF cycle charts, consent forms, and treatment records.
C. Procedure Assistance
- Assist doctor during:
- Follicular scans
- OPU (Ovum Pickup)
- Embryo Transfer
- ICSI & lab coordination (if needed)
- Minor OT procedures
- Prepare OT/Procedure room with required instruments and consumables.
- Ensure aseptic technique is followed throughout.
D. Medication & Injection Management
- Administer injections (HCG trigger, IVF hormonal injections, etc.)
- Maintain drug stock, temperature logs, and expiry checks.
- Guide patients on self-injection techniques when needed.
E. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain patient files, consent forms, and checklists.
- Update HIS/EMR with clinical notes and procedure details.
- Follow NABH/IVF compliance standards.
- Maintain OT/procedure room registers.
F. Inventory & Equipment Handling
- Maintain stock of IVF consumables, medications, disposables, and OT supplies.
- Check daily equipment functioning (suction, monitors, OT lights, warmer, etc.)
- Report breakdowns to biomedical/management immediately.
G. Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- IVF Coordinator
- Embryologist
- Doctors
- Front Office
- Pharmacy
- Inform patients about procedure timings and follow-up instructions.
H. Infection Control
- Strictly follow infection control protocols.
- Maintain sterilization, hand hygiene, and aseptic precautions.
- Ensure OT/procedure room cleanliness and sterility.
3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing
- Nursing Registration Certificate (mandatory)
- 1–3 years experience in IVF/Hospital (IVF preferred)
- Knowledge of IVF procedures is an advantage
- Training in OT nursing or fertility care preferred

5. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift-based duty (Morning/Evening)
- Work in OT, Procedure Room, IVF Unit, OPD
- May require weekend or emergency availability

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
