Role summary
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals, families, and communities in line with professional and ethical standards.
- Work as part of the healthcare team in hospitals, clinics, or community settings, ensuring patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Practice within the N&MC scope of practice and facility policies, maintaining accountability for all professional actions.
Key clinical duties
- Take histories, assess health problems, perform basic physical assessments, and identify patient needs to develop appropriate care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely (oral, IM, IV as per competency and protocol), monitor responses, and promptly report abnormalities to the physician
- Provide direct nursing care: wound care, IV line care, vital sign monitoring, hygiene assistance, feeding support, mobilization, and basic emergency care as trained
Documentation and coordination
- Maintain accurate, timely nursing notes, medication records, and observation charts, and update patient records to support clinical decision‑making.
- Communicate effectively with doctors, PAs, midwives, and other team members, participate in ward rounds, and support safe referrals and discharges.
- Contribute to implementing care plans, referral pathways, and information‑sharing protocols as set by the facility and Ministry of Health
