- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates, including preterm and critically ill babies.
- Monitor, assess, and document vital signs and clinical condition of neonates.
- Maintain thermoregulation using incubators, radiant warmers, and appropriate measures.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments accurately as per doctor’s orders.
- Operate and monitor NICU equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, HFNC, infusion pumps, and monitors.
- Assist in neonatal resuscitation and emergency procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control practices and hand hygiene protocols.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation, charts, and treatment records.
- Manage feeding methods including breastfeeding support, expressed breast milk, gavage feeding, and TPN as prescribed.
- Maintain intake-output records, daily weight charts, and fluid balance.
- Identify and report any abnormal findings or changes in baby’s condition immediately to the doctor.
- Ensure correct patient identification and safety at all times.
- Provide proper shift handover with complete patient details.
- Educate and support parents regarding basic newborn care as guided by the medical team.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, senior nurses, and other healthcare staff.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the NICU environment.
- Report incidents, medication errors, near misses, or equipment malfunction promptly.
- Adhere to hospital policies, NICU protocols, and ethical standards.
- Participate in training programs, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain professional conduct, punctuality, discipline, and confidentiality.
