- During the delivery, the labour and delivery nurse prepares for the new arrival by setting up a warming bed for the baby with emergency supplies, in case they're needed. She also prepares medications that might be needed for the delivery. After delivery, assess the new-born’s colour, tone and general condition, assess weight of the baby and encourage & helps mother to start breast-feeding. The nurse helps with breast-feeding, makes sure mother’s bleeding is within normal limits and watches the baby for signs of respiratory distress, infection or other complications. The nurse arranges for shifting the patients after Voiding.
- · Responsibilities for the inventory including emergency drugs, ABC Trays, Dressing room / Trolley, equipment’s and instruments.
- Carry out the procedure of admission and discharges. Transfer-in and Transfer-out of patients admitted in Labor ward.
- Makes beds for the patients and helps the students and housekeeping employees to make beds by supplying linen and other material.
- Maintains personnel hygiene and comforts of the patients. To visit all patients during duty time regularly.
- Close observation and monitoring the patients by checking vital parameters. In any abnormalities, inform to doctor.
- To provide pre and post-operative care to the patients.
- Careful and proper shifting of the patient to the appropriate department.
- Proper communication to patients in an understandable language.
- Maintain clean and safe environment for the patient and safety measures (bed railing, while giving steam inhalation and hot water fermentation.)
- Assess nutritional needs of patients and feed the patient (Oral, Nasogastric feed etc).
