Staff Nurse (NICU)

India

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care

  • Provide bedside nursing care to neonates in NICU, including monitoring vital signs, oxygen saturation, and neurological responses.
  • Assist doctors in procedures such as intubation, umbilical line insertion, and exchange transfusion.
  • Administer IV fluids, medications, and nutrition as per physician orders.
  • Operate and monitor specialized NICU equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, incubators, and infusion pumps.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure strict adherence to NICU protocols.

2. Monitoring & Documentation

  • Record and update nursing notes, treatment charts, fluid balance, and growth parameters.
  • Report promptly to doctors about any changes in the baby’s condition.
  • Maintain accurate handover reports at shift changes.

3. Family Support & Communication

  • Educate and counsel parents on neonatal care, feeding practices, and infection prevention.
  • Provide emotional support to families during critical situations.
  • Guide parents during Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) sessions.

4. Emergency Response

  • Respond quickly to neonatal emergencies such as apnea, cardiac arrest, or sepsis.
  • Assist in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization procedures.
  • Participate in emergency drills and maintain readiness.

5. Compliance & Quality Care

  • Follow NABH and hospital infection control policies.
  • Dispose biomedical waste as per guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of NICU environment and equipment.
  • Participate in quality audits, training sessions, and continuing nursing education (CNE).

Qualifications & Experience

  • GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing (Pediatrics preferred).
  • Registered Nurse (RN/RM) with Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in NICU (Freshers with specialized NICU training may also be considered).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of neonatal care, growth, and development.
  • Ability to handle critical neonates and emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in using NICU equipment and technology.
  • Compassion, patience, and good communication skills.
  • Teamwork and ability to work in rotational shifts.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
