Key Responsibilities
1. Surveillance & Monitoring
- Conduct daily surveillance of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) in wards, ICUs, OT, and other critical areas.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain infection-related data and generate monthly/quarterly reports.
- Monitor compliance with biomedical waste management guidelines.
2. Policy Implementation
- Ensure implementation of infection control policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support accreditation requirements (NABH, JCI, etc.) with proper documentation.
- Assist in outbreak investigations and recommend corrective actions.
3. Training & Awareness
- Conduct regular training, orientation, and refresher programs for doctors, nurses, and support staff on hand hygiene, PPE usage, biomedical waste segregation, and infection control practices.
- Educate patients and attendants on basic infection prevention practices.
4. Audits & Compliance
- Perform audits on hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, OT sterility, and linen disinfection.
- Monitor compliance with antibiotic stewardship policies.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, laundry, CSSD, and other departments to ensure IPC practices.
5. Coordination & Reporting
- Work with the Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) for regular meetings, data presentations, and action plans.
- Report unusual infections, outbreaks, or resistance patterns to the ICO and Medical Director.
- Liaise with laboratory and microbiology departments for culture sensitivity reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. Nursing with specialized training/certification in Infection Control (preferred).
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in infection control desirable.
- Knowledge of NABH/JCI standards related to infection control.
