Job Summary
The Obs/Gyne Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to women during pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and for gynecological conditions. The role involves monitoring maternal and fetal health, assisting in deliveries, supporting physicians during procedures, and ensuring safe and compassionate patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesAntenatal (Pre-Natal) Care
- Assess and monitor pregnant patients during clinic visits or admission
- Record vital signs, fetal heart rate, and overall maternal condition
- Educate patients on pregnancy care, nutrition, and warning signs
- Assist physicians during antenatal examinations
Labor & Delivery Care
- Monitor labor progress and fetal well-being
- Assist in normal and assisted deliveries
- Prepare delivery room and ensure availability of necessary equipment
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients during labor
- Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
Postnatal Care
- Monitor mother and newborn after delivery
- Assess recovery, manage pain, and identify complications
- Support breastfeeding and educate mothers on newborn care
- Ensure proper documentation and discharge planning
Gynecological Care
- Assist in gynecological examinations and procedures
- Prepare patients for minor and major procedures
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for gynecological surgeries
- Educate patients on reproductive health and preventive care
