The Staff Nurse (OT) is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The nurse supports the surgical team, ensures infection control, and maintains a sterile and organized environment in the operation theatre.

Key Responsibilities:Pre-Operative Duties:

  • Prepare the operation theatre with required instruments, equipment, and consumables.
  • Verify patient identity, consent, and preoperative assessments.
  • Ensure all instruments and machines are sterilized and functioning properly.
  • Assist in patient preparation and positioning for surgery.

Intra-Operative Duties:

  • Assist the surgeon during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
  • Monitor patient’s vital signs and promptly report any abnormalities.
  • Maintain accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
  • Handle and label surgical specimens correctly.

Post-Operative Duties:

  • Transfer patients safely to the recovery area and provide postoperative care as instructed.
  • Monitor patients for any signs of complications and report immediately.
  • Document all nursing care and surgical details accurately.

General Duties:

  • Adhere strictly to infection control and sterilization protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of the operation theatre.
  • Check and maintain adequate stock of surgical items and OT consumables.
  • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement programs.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, standards, and professional ethics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration with the Nursing Council (Kerala Nursing Council preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an OT Staff Nurse (Cosmetology / General Surgery / Multispecialty setup preferred).

  • Thorough knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and observation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sterile environment.
  • Compassionate, detail-oriented, and dedicated to patient safety.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
