DescriptionThe Staff Research Associate (SRA) will be responsible for conducting scientific research projects related to the neuronal basis of human pain and addiction under the supervision of the Director of the Surgical Neuromodulation and Brain Mapping Lab. Responsibilities include independently performing neuronal recordings while administering experimental tasks to epilepsy and DBS patients with implanted electrodes, as well as collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and clinical staff. The SRA will use software programs such as MATLAB, Brainlab, and FSL for data preparation, processing, and analysis and will provide detailed evaluations and presentations of research findings to the laboratory team. Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventory records and overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and routine inspection of laboratory equipment and materials. The SRA will also assist with the preparation of grant applications and progress reports, the submission and renewal of human subjects IRB protocols, and the drafting and editing of correspondence related to the research program. The ideal candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including day, night, and weekend shifts, as research activities are often coordinated with clinical procedures and patient availability. Prior experience in scientific research, including data analysis, coding, and the development of research workflows, is highly preferred.
Hourly salary $28.69 - $34.21. Please note the department’s target hourly salary is $28.69.
