About The Role
The Staff / Senior Staff IoT Solutions Engineer is a senior, hands on technical role responsible for architecting, developing, and delivering IoT and Edge AI solutions built on Qualcomm platforms. This role operates at the intersection of solution engineering, customer engagement, product collaboration, and ecosystem integration, supporting repeatable solution patterns that accelerate customer adoption across multiple verticals. The role combines customer facing technical leadership with hands on prototyping and system validation, serving as a trusted technical contributor and advisor for strategic customers and regional solution engagements.
Key Responsibilities Will Include Solution Architecture & Technical Execution
- Contribute to and implement IoT and Edge AI solution blueprints for priority verticals.
- Architect and deliver end to end solutions spanning on device AI, gateways, edge servers, connectivity, and hybrid cloud integration.
- Develop reference architectures, design guides, and deployment playbooks in collaboration with internal teams.
- Ensure solutions meet production requirements for performance, latency, power, thermals, security, and scalability.
Customer & Partner Engagement
- Act as a technical lead for customer engagements, supporting projects from discovery through PoC, pilot, and early production.
- Translate customer business use cases and KPIs into practical, system level technical designs.
- Support customer architecture reviews and technical roadmap discussions.
- Collaborate with OEMs, ISVs, system integrators, and cloud partners to validate end to end solutions.
- Support regional PoCs, pilots, and commercial solution launches.
Hands On Prototyping & Validation
- Lead and execute system bring up, prototyping, benchmarking, and validation on Qualcomm platforms.
- Integrate workloads such as:
- Computer vision and video analytics
- AI/ML inference (CNNs, multimodal models, selected GenAI inference workloads)
- IoT gateway applications and industrial data pipelines
- Profile and optimize solutions across latency, throughput, accuracy, power, thermal behavior, and cost.
Hybrid Edge AI Architecture
- Design and implement distributed AI architectures across on device, on prem edge, and cloud environments.
- Enable offline/online operation, secure connectivity, observability, and fleet/device management patterns.
- Support enterprise integration requirements including data security and operational monitoring.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Management, Platform HW/SW teams, Performance teams, and Customer Engineering.
- Provide feedback from customer deployments to help improve platform features, SDKs, and solution readiness.
- Represent Qualcomm in customer workshops, technical reviews, and selected industry events.
Technical profile that we are looking for Required
- Strong system level understanding of IoT, embedded systems, and Edge AI deployments.
- Hands on software experience in Python and/or C/C++.
- Experience with Embedded Linux and modern application packaging (e.g., containers).
- Familiarity with AI frameworks and runtimes such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and deployment oriented inference workflows.
- Background in computer vision, video analytics, or edge AI inference.
- Working knowledge of connectivity technologies including Ethernet, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G.
- Experience with multimedia frameworks (Android, Linux, Tizen, any other OS). Gstreamer experience a plus.
Preferred
- Experience delivering customer facing IoT or Edge AI solutions that moved beyond PoC to pilot or production.
- Exposure to one or more verticals such as industrial automation, smart cities, public sector, energy, logistics, or retail.
- Experience working with hybrid edge/cloud architectures.
- Comfortable communicating technical concepts to architect , engineering , and director level audiences.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
