Personal Care Aide / HomemakerPosition Summary

The Personal Care Aide / Homemaker provides non-medical, in-home support to clients to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). This role ensures clients maintain independence, dignity, and a safe living environment while receiving compassionate, high-quality care.

Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care Services (PCA Duties)

  • Assist clients with bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Help with dressing and undressing
  • Provide toileting and incontinence care
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
  • Support with eating and meal assistance if needed
  • Monitor and report changes in client condition

Homemaker Services

  • Perform light housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry)
  • Prepare meals according to client preferences and dietary needs
  • Assist with grocery shopping and errands (if authorized)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment
  • Dispose of trash and ensure sanitary conditions

Companionship & Support

  • Provide emotional support and companionship
  • Engage clients in conversation and meaningful activities
  • Encourage independence and participation in daily routines
  • Accompany clients to appointments or community activities (if approved)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete accurate and timely visit notes
  • Follow EVV procedures for clock-in and clock-out
  • Obtain required client signatures (if applicable)
  • Adhere to all company policies and state regulations
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous caregiving experience preferred but not required
  • Must pass background check and screening requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for assignment)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively

Work Environment

  • Services are provided in clients’ homes
  • May require standing, bending, lifting, and assisting with transfers
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs (as required)
  • Ability to assist clients with mobility and transfers
  • Ability to perform household tasks

  • Must follow all EVV and documentation requirements
  • Must adhere to attendance and punctuality standards
  • Must comply with the company’s Code of Ethics and client rights policies
  • Must complete required training and continuing education
