Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and purchasing operations for transmission tower manufacturing . The role requires strong expertise in steel procurement, vendor management, pricing negotiations, and supply coordination to ensure uninterrupted production and cost optimization. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, commercially strong, and capable of managing procurement cycles end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Procure raw materials such as steel sections, angles, plates etc.
- Prepare and manage material requirement plans based on production schedules and inventory levels.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers.
- Ensure timely procurement aligned with project and production timelines.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and steel rolling mills.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts.
- Track vendor performance on cost, quality, and delivery.
Cost Optimization & Negotiation
- Conduct market price analysis and benchmarking.
- Secure competitive pricing through strategic negotiation.
- Monitor steel market trends to optimize purchase timing.
Coordination & Follow-Ups
- Expedite material dispatch and ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with production, planning, quality, and accounts teams.
- Resolve supply delays, discrepancies, or quality issues.
ERP & Documentation
- Enter and maintain procurement data in ERP systems.
- Generate purchase orders, material reports, and procurement summaries.
- Maintain proper documentation of quotations, orders, and vendor records.
Billing & Commercial Compliance
- Verify vendor invoices against purchase orders and deliveries.
- Coordinate with accounts for payment processing.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and audit requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.
- 3–8+ years of procurement experience in steel / fabrication / heavy engineering industries.
- Strong knowledge of steel grades, sections, plates, and fabrication materials.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Excel-based procurement tracking.
- Strong analytical, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with steel mill procurement cycles and supply chains.
- Knowledge of taxation, invoicing, and basic accounting processes.
