Job Purpose:
The Steelfixer is responsible for cutting, bending, assembling, and fixing steel reinforcement bars and mesh used in concrete structures for oil & gas projects, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, safety standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from construction drawings, bar bending schedules, and technical specifications.
- Cut, bend, shape, and tie reinforcement bars and mesh using hand and power tools.
- Position, assemble, and secure reinforcement bars and steel cages before pouring concrete.
- Fix steel reinforcements in foundations, columns, beams, slabs, tanks, and other structures.
- Ensure alignment, spacing, and cover of steel reinforcement as per standards.
- Carry out fabrication and installation of steel reinforcement in confined spaces or at heights (if required).
- Work in coordination with formwork carpenters, welders, and concrete workers.
- Follow site safety protocols, wear PPE, and comply with company HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe and tidy condition.
- Report material shortages, quality issues, and site hazards to supervisors.
