STEM Instructor

Champaign Park District – Part-Time 2, Non-Exempt (not to exceed 19 hours per week on average)

About the Job

Are you passionate about sharing your skills and inspiring others? The Special Interest STEM Instructor develops and facilitates engaging, hands-on STEM programs for youth, teens, and families at the Champaign Park District’s Innovation Center. Programming may include 3D printing, LEGO and Roblox Clubs, and other interactive experiences designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate interactive STEM programs for youth, teens, and families
  • Plan and lead hands-on activities such as 3D printing projects, LEGO challenges, Roblox Club sessions,
  • Create age-appropriate program content that encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving
  • Utilize equipment and technology within the Innovation Center, including 3D printers and related tools
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, and staff regarding program expectations and updates
  • Track attendance and complete required program documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience or strong interest in STEM-related areas such as 3D printing, robotics, coding, gaming platforms (e.g., Roblox), or engineering-based activities
  • Ability to develop and lead hands-on, age-appropriate activities
  • Experience working with youth and/or teens preferred
  • Strong communication and group facilitation skills
  • Familiarity with basic technology tools and willingness to learn new systems
