The Steward plays an essential role in supporting Culinary and Food & Beverage operations by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization across kitchen and back-of-house areas within a luxury hotel environment. This role is vital in maintaining smooth kitchen workflow and upholding five-star safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, wash, and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware in accordance with hotel procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of kitchens, storage areas, and back-of-house facilities at all times
- Operate dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensure proper waste management, segregation, and disposal in line with hygiene and environmental standards
- Support the culinary team by ensuring a steady supply of clean equipment and utensils
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing kitchen deliveries when required
- Immediately report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor
- Follow all hotel health, safety, and security policies and procedures
- Provide operational support during events, banquets, and peak service periods
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Steward in a luxury hotel or high-standard hospitality environment is an advantage
- Basic understanding of cleaning agents, equipment handling, and safety practices
- Strong focus on cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team
- Dependable, disciplined, and committed to maintaining high operational standards
