A Field and Support Trainer for Stone Security focuses on an assigned local office (i.e. Salt Lake City) instructing, evaluating, and mentoring operations and support personnel on the full range of programing and installations, to include safety protocols and site-specific procedures. This position bridges the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, offering hands-on training and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This individual specializes in Lenel S2 access control programs and all hardware regarding access control installations. They are an expert in Axis cameras and Milestone VMS programing and deployments. The field trainer also has expertise in intrusion systems programing and installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-the-Job Training (OJT): Provides direct, field-based “shoulder to shoulder” instruction and classroom instruction for new hires and ongoing training for current staff. Training focuses on the assigned local office.
  • Curriculum Training: Works under and used curriculum provided by the training department, works with our core vendors/products to ensure our technicians are certified in access control, video management systems and intrusion systems and other systems as necessary.
  • Local Focus: Works closely with the GM of the assigned local office (as strong dotted -line report) to address the training needs of the office personnel.
  • Performance Evaluation: Assesses technician proficiency to identify where knowledge and skill level is lacking and provides necessary training to include, Access Control systems, Video management systems and intrusion systems.
  • Compliance & Safety: Trains technicians on best practices and safety for on-the-job installations. Trains on safety requirements and assists in setting up training classes to get all technicians safety certified in each required discipline ensuring adherence to state regulations.
  • Mentorship: Provides expert level resources to assist new employees or any technician in the SLC office, or on the project teams with direction, training and experience.
  • Communication: Displays exceptional communication with all stakeholders, external and internal
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Maintains training schedules and coordinates with other departments
  • Continual Improvement: Suggests updates and improvements to curriculum and training procedures to the training department
  • Tracking and Record keeping: For formalized training, tracks completions in BearCom University. Keeps local records of training attendance and completion.
  • While maintaining a local focus, may assist the training department with broader efforts on occasion.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Expert level on all the core products and programs currently offered by Stone Security. 5+ years of experience in the field installing and troubleshooting.
  • Strong ability to teach, mentor, and communicate effectively in teaching other people from various backgrounds.
  • Capability to handle diverse situations and trainee needs.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of management
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint).
  • Strong technical abilities knowledge of relevant technology and tools, i.e., access control, video surveillance, and intrusion.
  • Write, read, interpret, explain and act based on a thorough understanding of technical documents, engineering materials and contracts or related documents
  • Make professional sales and business presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, including complex business and technical matters to an audience of high technical skills, management, and operational experience
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Drug screenings and background checks are part of the hiring process, which may include a Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Must be able to stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; push; pull; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with “on call availability” and be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods. Periodic Travel may be required, including long-distance drives of several hours.
