Job Description – Store In-Charge

Ship Repair / Industrial / Workshop Operations

1. Purpose of the Role

To manage the receipt, storage, control, and issue of all materials, tools, consumables, and equipment in a safe, accurate, and traceable manner, ensuring uninterrupted project execution.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Material Receipt & Inspection Coordination

  • Receive materials, tools, and equipment as per purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for incoming material inspection where required.
  • Verify quantities, specifications, and documentation before acceptance.
  • Ensure proper tagging, identification, and traceability of materials.

- Ensure all measuring and test equipment are calibrated as per their periodicity and records maintained.

- ⁠Ensure all lifting tackles are load tested periodically and records maintained.

- ⁠Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in a satisfactory material state always. On occurrence of any defects take appropriate actions to rectify the reported defects and maintain records.

B. Storage & Preservation

  • Arrange materials systematically according to category and project.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for:
  • Welding consumables
  • Chemicals and paints
  • Electrical items
  • Mechanical spare parts
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe stacking practices.

- Maintain Safety data sheets and technical data sheets of all chemicals stored in the store.

- ⁠Ensure compliance with HSE standards, Company policies and regulatory requirements.

C. Issue & Return Control

  • Issue materials only against approved material requisition (MR).
  • Maintain records of materials issued project-wise / job-wise.
  • Ensure proper receipt of returned surplus materials and update records.
  • Control and record tools issued to workshop / site teams.

D. Inventory Control & Stock Monitoring

  • Maintain accurate stock registers / ERP records.
  • Monitor minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels.
  • Inform procurement department in advance for replenishment.
  • Conduct periodic stock verification and reconciliation.

E. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain:
  • Goods receipt records (GRN)
  • Issue vouchers
  • Return notes
  • Tool issue registers
  • Stock balance reports
  • Submit periodic reports to management regarding inventory status, material consumption, and shortages.

F. Scrap & Surplus Control

  • Segregate scrap materials properly.
  • Maintain scrap records and disposal documentation.
  • Track surplus materials for reuse in other projects.

G. Coordination

  • Coordinate with Procurement, Project Engineers, QA/QC, Workshop Supervisors, and Accounts for smooth material flow.
  • Support project teams by ensuring timely availability of required materials.

3. Skills & Competency Requirements

  • Knowledge of storekeeping procedures and inventory systems.
  • Basic understanding of engineering materials used in ship repair / industrial works.
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP / inventory software (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.

  • Accuracy of stock records
  • Timely material availability for projects
  • Reduction of stock discrepancies
  • Proper tool and material traceability
  • Inventory turnover efficiency

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
