Position Summary


The Strategic Communications Director is a strategic and creative leader responsible for elevating Jack & Jill Center’s brand, voice, and visibility across all platforms. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role serves as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing and facilitating core elements of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies that drive engagement, fundraising success, program enrollment, and community awareness.


This position provides inspiring leadership and strategic direction in the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, manages digital and print communications, and ensures consistent messaging aligned with organizational goals. The Director also oversees website communications, corporate sponsorship marketing, and storytelling efforts that connect hearts and minds to our mission - inspiring donors, partners, and families to engage deeply with our work.


The Strategic Communications Director works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer ("CAO") and Chief Program Officer ("CPO") to ensure communications strategies support fundraising, program enrollment, and mission-driven storytelling. This includes designing donor-centered messaging that enhances engagement, satisfaction, and giving, while also promoting the organization’s educational and family support services to prospective families and community partners.


Primary Position Responsibilities


Strategic Marketing & Communications Leadership

  • Design, lead, and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with Jack & Jill Center’s mission, advancement goals, and enrollment objectives
  • Develop and manage annual marketing plans, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all channels, including print, digital, social media, and events.
  • Ensure messaging is aligned and consistent across all mediums, including digital, print, and in-person communications, to strengthen brand clarity and mission impact understanding.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and CAO ensuring communication strategies amplify impact visibility and align messaging with fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
  • Partner with the CPO to develop messaging that supports program enrollment and family engagement.
  • Integrate Advancement activities into a cohesive communication plan that enhances donor understanding and engagement.
  • Support strategic fundraising efforts by consolidating donor outreach and offering multi-faceted recognition opportunities.
  • Ensure communications reflect the organization’s mission and impact across all audiences, including donors, families, and community partners.

Corporate Partner & Event Sponsorship Marketing

  • Develop and market compelling sponsorship packages for corporate partners and special events.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to identify and promote sponsorship opportunities that align with donor interests and organizational goals.

Content Creation & Digital Engagement

  • Oversee all digital platforms, including website, social media, and email marketing.
  • Create compelling content, graphics, and storytelling that highlight impact and inspire action.
  • Ensure storytelling and visuals evoke purpose, passion, and partnership.
  • Develop targeted content that promotes program enrollment and highlights educational and family support services.
  • Manage monthly e-newsletter and donor communications.
  • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to optimize engagement and reach.
  • Oversee website content strategy, updates, and messaging to reflect the organization’s brand, mission, and current initiatives.
  • Ensure the website serves as a dynamic platform for donor engagement, event promotion, program visibility, and impact storytelling.

Community Relations & Public Engagement

  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Jack & Jill Center at community events and partner activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, local businesses, and community leaders to enhance visibility.
  • Collaborate with the CPO to promote program visibility and enrollment through community outreach and media engagement.
  • Collaborate with the CAO to promote advancement and donor recognition programs visibility through community outreach and media engagement.

  • Manage public relations efforts, including press releases and media outreach.
  • Maintain and coordinate a staff speakers bureau for public engagements.

Volunteer & Event Communications

  • Support volunteer engagement through clear communication and recognition strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to promote special events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensure marketing materials and outreach tools are available for evens and community programs.

The Strategic Communications Director possesses the following minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven success in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Strong writing, design, and digital media skills; proficiency in social media management and email marketing platforms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire trust and collaboration across diverse audiences.
  • Experience with CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge/NXT a plus).
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
