Salary Range: DOE

Status: Exempt (Salary)

Schedule: Full Time (40 hours or more per week)

Shift: Office (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Location: SLC

JOB SUMMARY:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the success of the Product Development and Supply Chain teams. This position is responsible for sourcing raw materials and vendors, obtaining required samples, and ensuring all associated documentation is complete, accurate, and readily available to support product development and commercialization.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Source new raw materials and vendors in support of Product Development projects.
  • Identify and source alternate materials for single-sourced or at-risk ingredients.
  • Perform regular RFQs with vendors to ensure accurate pricing for experimental and commercial products.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Supply Chain to qualify new vendors.
  • Work with Quality to qualify new raw materials.
  • Ensure all raw material documentation is current, complete, and accessible for Quality and Supply Chain use during commercialization.
  • Enter and maintain data within formulation software.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases, including specifications and pricing.
  • Manage the raw material sample library, ensuring inventory accuracy in IMS, monitoring expiration dates, and maintaining proper sample controls.

Purchase Price Variance (PPV) improvement

Raw material sample turnaround time (TAT)

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s in Supply Chain

WORK EXPERIENCE:

3+ years Nutraceutical industry product development or supply chain

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Proficiency in data entry and database management

Ability to work effectively in group problem-solving environments and exercise sound judgment

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands

Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive team environment

Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to read and interpret documents and write routine correspondence, instructions, and procedures

Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages

Demonstrated ability to self-manage, including consistent attendance and punctuality

Takes ownership of responsibilities, shows initiative, meets productivity standards, and contributes suggestions for continuous improvement

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in both office and laboratory environments and may be exposed to fumes, dust, or other airborne particles, as well as working near moving mechanical parts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This role requires frequent sitting, use of hands, talking, hearing/listening, tasting/smelling, standing, walking, bending/stooping, climbing stairs or ladders, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
