The Role: Strategy & Masterplanning Director
The job location can be from any of our offices: London, Cairo, Dubai, Riyadh
The Strategy & Masterplanning Director is responsible for leading and growing TGP's Strategy & Masterplanning practice, ensuring the successful delivery of all strategic advisory projects while driving innovation, client satisfaction, commercial performance, and team development.
As a senior client advisor, the Director will build trusted relationships with clients, taking the time to deeply understand their challenges, ambitions, operational realities, and commercial objectives. They will be responsible for translating complex business problems into clear strategic questions, designing analytical approaches that uncover actionable insights, and developing tailored solutions that create measurable value for clients.
The Director will lead multidisciplinary teams through large-scale research, data analysis, market evaluation, and strategic planning processes, transforming complex findings into compelling narratives, creative strategies, and inspirational recommendations that distinguish TGP from traditional consultancies.
The role will also play a key part in growing TGP's market presence by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships, develop new service offerings, and position TGP as the leading hospitality strategy and experience consultancy in the region.
The Director is responsible for upholding TGP's values, maintaining the reputation of the Advisory department, and acting as a champion of TGP's 5E Customer Service philosophy.
Role and Responsibilities1. Strategy, Masterplanning & Client Advisory
Strategic Leadership
a) Lead the development, delivery and implementation of client-facing hospitality strategy projects including:
b) Act as the senior strategic advisor on all strategy projects.
c) Lead project scoping, methodology development, timelines, resource planning, and delivery frameworks.
d) Provide final review and approval of all strategic outputs, recommendations, reports, and presentations.
e) Drive the evolution of TGP's strategic advisory services, methodologies, tools, and intellectual property.
Client Management & Relationship Development
f) Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships founded on trust, credibility, and strategic value.
g) Invest time in understanding client businesses, operational challenges, investment objectives, stakeholder priorities, and market context.
h) Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement sessions to identify root causes of business challenges rather than simply responding to stated requirements.
i) Translate client needs into tailored strategic solutions that align with commercial, operational, and brand objectives.
j) Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships through cross-selling, upselling, and introduction of wider TGP services.
k) Position TGP as a strategic partner rather than a transactional consultant.
Problem Definition & Analytical Leadership
l) Lead teams through structured problem-solving methodologies to clearly define client challenges and project objectives.
m) Design analytical frameworks and research methodologies that support evidence-based decision making.
n) Guide teams through large and complex data analysis exercises, including market, operational, financial, customer, and competitive data.
o) Ensure insights are derived from data in a way that remains focused on solving client business problems rather than simply reporting findings.
p) Challenge assumptions and identify emerging trends, opportunities, risks, and innovation opportunities.
q) Drive clarity and alignment when working with ambiguous, incomplete, or conflicting information.
Insight-Led Strategy & Innovation
r) Translate analytical findings into clear, compelling, and actionable strategic recommendations.
s) Develop creative and inspirational strategies that combine commercial rigour with innovative thinking.
t) Ensure recommendations are grounded in insight while pushing clients towards differentiated and future-focused solutions.
u) Lead the creation of compelling strategic narratives that inspire confidence and support decision making.
v) Champion innovation, thought leadership, and trend analysis to ensure TGP remains ahead of industry developments.
w) Create strategic outputs that differentiate TGP from traditional consultancies through a combination of insight, creativity, practicality, and implementation focus.
x) Test new methodologies, technologies, and approaches while tracking effectiveness and outcomes.
y) Actively participate in TGP's 360 process from a strategic perspective.
z) Attend weekly Advisory and Design meetings to update leadership on project performance, team workload, and strategic opportunities.
2. Finance & Profitability
a) Monitor project billing, collection, and financial performance.
b) Develop and contribute to territory business plans and growth strategies.
c) Maximise revenue opportunities across strategy projects and wider TGP services.
d) Ensure profitability targets and project margins are achieved.
e) Negotiate third-party consultant fees and supplier agreements.
f) Assess project feasibility and risk prior to partner approval.
g) Develop management information systems and performance reporting to support business growth and resource planning.
h) Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
i) Review quarterly forecasts and identify performance variances.
j) Monitor territory profit and loss performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
3. Project Leadership
(Where assigned as Project Lead)
a) Coordinate and chair project meetings.
b) Manage project programmes, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
c) Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to TGP quality standards.
d) Attend site visits, workshops, and client presentations.
e) Provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise throughout project delivery.
f) Manage relationships with all external stakeholders.
g) Obtain stakeholder feedback and approvals as required.
h) Facilitate collaboration across TGP departments to ensure integrated project delivery.
i) Ensure strategic recommendations remain aligned with brand, commercial, and operational objectives.
j) Manage effective project handover between departments and project phases.
4. People Leadership
a) Lead recruitment, retention, and development of the Strategy & Masterplanning team.
b) Approve all strategy team recruitment decisions.
c) Develop workforce planning and resource allocation strategies.
d) Mentor and coach team members in consulting, analytical thinking, client management, and strategic problem solving.
e) Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
f) Conduct monthly team meetings and regular performance reviews.
g) Develop personal development plans and career pathways for team members.
h) Lead intern and graduate development programmes.
i) Ensure resources are effectively managed to meet client commitments.
j) Communicate resource requirements and capacity challenges to the Leadership Team.
5. Business Development & Market Growth
a) Actively build market presence through conferences, industry events, thought leadership, and networking activities.
b) Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
c) Lead strategic pitches, proposals, and presentations.
d) Support marketing initiatives with market insights, project learnings, and thought leadership content.
e) Maintain awareness of market trends, investor activity, hospitality innovation, and competitive movements.
f) Drive client retention, satisfaction, and long-term relationship growth through TGP's 5E Customer Service philosophy.
g) Promote TGP's integrated 360 service offering across all client engagements.
h) Contribute to positioning TGP as the leading hospitality strategy, masterplanning, and experience consultancy in the region.
