The Structural BIM Engineer is responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating 3D Building Information Models (BIM) for structural systems of high-rise buildings. The role ensures that all structural designs are accurately modeled, clash-free, and coordinated with other disciplines (MEP, architecture, etc.) to support construction planning, execution, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage structural BIM models for high-rise building projects using software such as Revit, Tekla Structures, or Navisworks.
- Ensure accurate modeling of structural elements including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, shear walls, and core walls.
- Coordinate BIM models with MEP, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to resolve clashes and conflicts.
- Perform clash detection and produce clash reports using tools like Navisworks or Solibri.
- Assist in preparing structural shop drawings and construction documentation from BIM models.
- Collaborate with the design and site teams to ensure that the BIM models reflect actual site conditions.
- Support quantity take-offs (QTOs) and material estimation using BIM data.
- Maintain BIM standards and ensure compliance with company BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and ISO standards.
- Implement model updates and revisions as per design changes, RFIs, and site feedback.
- Coordinate with the project team for 4D scheduling and 5D cost planning using BIM.
- Provide technical support for BIM implementation and resolve modeling issues.
- Conduct model reviews and ensure quality and accuracy of structural information.
- Maintain organized libraries of BIM objects, templates, and families for structural works.
- Assist in clash resolution meetings and prepare coordination reports.
- Ensure proper version control and documentation of BIM files.
- Collaborate with external consultants, contractors, and clients to share BIM deliverables.
- Support the site team during installation and construction using the BIM model for guidance.
